Question and Answers

run2home93 How to upload footage with the Canon HV40 video camera? - run2home93 So I'm borrowing the Canon HV40 from someone and I can't figure out how to upload footage. I've tried different firewire and USB cords but nothing "registers" with the computer. What cord should I be using? Where does it plug in? An answer ASAP would be great. Thanks a lot.
Best Answer: A firewire cable to connect the camcorder's DV port to the computer's USB port. USB won't work. USB-to-firewire cable/converter/adapter/hub things won't work. You did not tell us what computer hardware you are using so we have no way to know if it has a firewire port. You did not tell us what video editor you are using to import the video so we don't know if it is capable of dealing with HDV format video. - Little Dog
There's a typo in Little Dog's answer - it's a firewire cable to connect the two firewire ports, not firewire to USB. - Iridflare
You need firewire. Download the manual at canon. - snowwillow20
