Jman Computer System Requirements? - Jman I have a Compaq SR5152NX AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core processor 4000+ (2.0ghz). I'd like to upgrade to this processor: http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/AMD-Athlon-II-X2-Dual-core-245-2.9GHz-Desktop-Processor/4133588/product.html?cid=123620&fp=F&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=12138076 If the link doesn't work, then I'll say that it is an AMD Athlon II X2 Dual-core 245 2.9GHz Desktop Processor. I have a 250 Watt power supply, so would I need to upgrade that also?

When "we"(I have an e-machine) purchase a computer "off the shelf" we get "stung" by not knowing much about them (I've done some research sence then) and as our need for speed increases...we find that what we bought was for a purpose(and they put into it just what was nessessary)..problem is that usually means that unless we knew enough about them to get one that allows for up-grades without extensive changes...we find ourselves in a corner.... That mobo wouldn't need a PSU up-grade with that CPU but any of the higher ones that would fit would need an up-grade...very sensible / cost effective choice (both the CPU and the suggested mobo)... - Raymond S
The processor is not bad. But the Power Supply is extremely weak. Anything under 300W is something I'd stay away from. You can upgrade the PSU for pretty cheap. - cth95mustang
