Question and Answers

Eddie Hi is this Version of Windows 7 suitable for upgrading from Vista Home Premium? - Eddie Also what is the difference between 32 and 64 bit? Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium - Product upgrade package - 1 PC - upgrade from Starter Edition - WAU - DVD - English
Best Answer: No, it's not suitable. That upgrade is for people who buy computers like netbooks that come with Windows 7 Starter, and then want to do an "Anytime Upgrade" to the Home Premium version. It will NOT upgrade from Vista Home Premium. You want the normal upgrade discs that retail for $119, or the family pack that retails for $149. 32-bit is more "standard" and has been around longer, and is what's generally universally compatible. 64-bit is for more recent systems that usually have dual core or quad core processors and have someone planning to utilize 4GB or more of RAM. 32-bit will work on a 64-bit system, but 64-bit will not work on a 32-bit system, nor is it compatible with some older hardware that lacks 64-bit drivers. - Yeti
You just need to make sure that the upgrade matches the bits that your current PC has. For example, If you have a 32-bit PC, you need a Windows 7 32-bit upgrade. - cth95mustang
