dhiman b What is LCD TV, how it is different from normal TV .Which is better and why? - dhiman b What is the difference between LCD, Plasma and conventional picture tube television.Which are the companies that manufacture LCD TV and what can be there prices.
Best Answer: I have LCDs (Liquid Crystal Displays), a plasma and CRTs (Cathode Ray Tubes) in my house. So here is the truth. LCDs have the advantage over CRTs of being flatter, and are considered more modern, they can be cheap, and you can have a bigger screen size on an LCD rather than CRT. The problem is LCDs have poor picture quality (and this is true for all LCD TVs.) If you look up close, you will see distortions and ghosted lines (I don't mean spectres!) around promenent objects/things on screen. CRTs have better picture quality than LCDs. Plasmas are better than both and that is why they cost more. Plasmas have far clearer pictures than CRTs and LCDs, they can be very large, and are obviously considered very posh and modern! If money is not an issue and you want good picture and/or large screen size, the plasma is the best. However, as previously mentioned, they are the most expensive. Rough price guide: Plasma (42 inch): £1295 [http://www.johnlewis.com/Shopping/Product.aspx?Type=SKU&ID=230217971&source=17219] LCD (42 inch): £947 [http://uk.nextag.com/LG-RZ42PX4DV-42-Inch--zz503988611zukzB3z2--COMPARE-PRICES-html] CRT (32 inch): US $199 [http://cgi.ebay.com/SHARP-32UF6-32-FLAT-PICTURE-TUBE-COLOR-TV-W-REMOTE-NR_W0QQitemZ9725914825QQcategoryZ15084QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem] (Sorry about the inconsistency in currency, I just took the quoted price.) - Rich

LCD is better than TV - ? Rohit Jain ?
LCD = Liquid Crystal Display, like a laptop monitor. CRT = Cathode Ray Tube, like the old style desktop monitors. - bred2bbroken
LCD is short for Liquid Crystal Display, the difference between it and a conventional TV which uses a Cathode Ray Tube, is the way the picture is created. Without getting into the technicalities of it, a LCD is thinner and some say the picture is crisper. They also weigh a lot less. On the flip side however, they cost quite a bit more. Sony among others, manufactures this type of television. - Kadaj
Well, LCD stands for Liquid Crystal something. And what's cooler then Liquid crystal!? LOL, the image quality is way better, and it allow for more compact screens, smaller screen, which look better style wise, so LCD is better then normal TV - babygurl_u_want_in_life
LCD = better because it's easier on the eyes and causes less damage. - Alliey
