paulycheenah How can I mount a SNAP Server 1100 hard drive to retrieve the data on it? - paulycheenah After a lightning storm my SNAP 1100 seemed completely dead. However, after I did a reset it came back to life... sort of. All the files appear to be fine but it's very slow, I download from it at 5.5kbps. I believe the HDD is fine, so I pulled it out and tried to mount it to a Linux box but Ubuntu won't mount it. I also tried to mount it in an Adaptec external USB enclosure but neither Ubuntu nor XP can recognize it.
Best Answer: I have gone thro' the SNAP site and learnt a bit about SNAP. The hard disk is IDE and if you can remove from the appliance(if it is okay with that) then connect to a normal system which has got a IDE support. Find out first whether it is getting detected by BIOS or not, if it is getting detected, then you need to find out what is the file system that SNAP is using. if you could come up to this, do let me know so that we can move forward. I have tried my level best to find out what is the file system SNAP OS is using as I have certain other priorities right now. If upto this is useful and you are not able to go on your own, do let me know so that I will help you. Post your experience here so that we can go forward.
