UH HUH my onkyo a-sv210 reciever says "protected" when i power it up? - UH HUH how can i fix it ?
Best Answer: Three possibilities for this kind of failure 1) crossed wires( short). 2) internal short in amp section. 3) defective speaker(s) causing short. Remove all wiring at the back and power it up. If protect still shows you have a internal short and need to get it repaired/replaced. Next add you sources one by one connection by connection checking for a short each time. Next hook up speakers one by one. Make sure if you find the short to frog wires to make sure it is the speaker or wiring or maybe both. Don't forget the sub too. This method will enable you to diagnose the problem area with little or no test equipment. A multimeter would be a good idea for continuity on your interconnects. Protection circuits are there so you don't blow yourself up with a lot of current. - 42
yeah it just means that the speaker wires are touching each other (negative and positive) all you need to do is resplice them. I would even cut a piece off, of each speaker wire so that some new copper is showing and put them back in your reciever, it should be fine after that. the reason why is it says to protected is because its protected your speakers against a power surge, because to much power or the wrong amount of power is going into each speaker input on your reciever. - Dizzy D
It means the speaker wires are touching each other. Unplug them all, twist them and plug them back in. - poop
