How do I upload footage from my video camera to my computer? - Nixville I own a Sony HDV 1080i mini-dv handycam model no. HDR-HC1 and it didn't come with software. I have a usb cord. How/where do I find drivers/software for uploading footage from my camera to my computer?

Best Answer: Plug the usb into the computer and into the camera (both ends). Then you have to turn it on. If you're using windows xp, vista, ect something should pop up asking you what you would like to do with it. Hit open folder to view files. Then it shows all of the files that are on your camera. (or memory card) Then just make a folder on your desktop and copy the videos you want from the folder that is opened and put them into the new folder that you made on the desktop. YOU HAVE TO copy the files. You cannot upload them from the folder that was opened when you plugged in the camera. MAKE SURE THAT THE CAMERA IS ON!!! If this helped, choose as best answer please. The usb for your camcorder should be plug-n-play; that is, Windows should auto-detect and install the new hardware when you plug in the usb. However, if you want to upload video footage to your computer, it is advisable to use the firewire interface instead. Firewire transfer will give lossless quality, whereas for usb, the camcoder will reduce the quality of the video before transfer. Further degrade may also occur over usb if your computer is not powerful enough. There are MANY answers in Yahoo!Answer that talks about transferring video using firewire. Search for it. There is no quality issue if you're just transferring still images. - KM
