lord_erico How do a use my 7-segment lcd screen (with a basic stamp?)? - lord_erico I have several 7-segment lcd screens, and I want to use them in my projects. Trouble is, I don't know how.... at all. All that are on the screens are: Planar systems inc. 9930-3906-365-4A0-01 I can't find a data sheet for it, planar's website doesn't have anything of the sort. How to I start? Is there any way I can use it with my basic stamp? Thanks, Eric
Best Answer: The first four digits are the date code -- 30th week of 1999 -- so that's a 8-year old part. After looking at the Planar website, it looks like they morphed into a finished display company instead of a display component company. It'll be tough finding a data sheet... It looks like you have single digit displays. They're probably a lot like the one linked to below. Doesn't look like these have any internal registers to hold the data, so if yours is the same, you'll need an 8-bit register for each display. You'll have to make your own 5VAC signal to drive it as well (often this is simply two lines that toggle -- one is the inversion of the other). It'd be a lot easier to go with a two line LCD display module for under $15. They are designed to connect easily to processors with internal registers and AC generators. The second link is a data sheet for a module sold by www.Digikey.com Good Luck! - sd_ducksoup
