Paul P How would you rate this PC? - Paul P Windows XP SP2 AMD XP2800+ Socket A Barton Core CPU overclocked to 2.15Ghz, cooled by a YS-Tech high performance fan and Evercool heatsink Antec 650W PSU with 120mm fan, 80mm rear case fan ASRock K7S41 motherboard, 2Gb PC3200 DDR400 RAM ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 512mb videocard Soundblaster Audigy 7.1 soundcard, harman/kardon 2.1 speakers LD CD/DVD 16x multiformat drive, Sony CRX230e 52x CD-RW drive 2x 80Gb hard drives, 1x Sony Floppy drive, rounded IDE cables CTX S770 17'' professional grade LCD monitor. 20mbps cable broadband internet connection I know that this is a slightly older system and Socket A processors are now becoming obsolete, but this overclocked system still performs pretty well so I'm reluctant to replace it just yet and so I'd be interested to hear anyone's ratings for it, thanks.
Best Answer: Most boxes last me from five to seven years ,,now. That one still has a lot of life in it. The 2g of RAM is prolly the Mobo limit, maybe you could add a USB Memory stick and figure out how to synche it or use it as swap. Technology moves faster and faster, hardware is already made to out perform the next shipment, so put Linux on 10g of one of those HDDs and get the real freedom going on. - Lawn Gnome
The processor is killing the setup! You've done well otherwise. You can pick them up cheap now if you go to microcenter.com or newegg.com or somewhere else. I would give it a 6 out of 10. I'd give it 9.5 if you got another mobo with an X2 socket 5600+ and some cas4 DDR2 chips, two gigs are fine. Great video card choice as well. - Juice
