Help Choosing Between Two Shotgun Microphones? - Miguel O I don't know wether to get the Azden SMG-1000 or the Audio-technica AT8015. Which one will serve me better for the long run in making short-films sound professional? (I need is specifically to capture dialogue clearly) I hear Audi-technica is a better brand so are they just selling me their brand or is their mic truly much better in quality? Best Answer: I like Audio Technica... I use an AT-825 stereo mic with my camcorder. If what you "need is specifically to capture dialogue clearly", is there a reason you are not getting closer by using a lavaliere? Sennheiser or Shure for lavs... Sennheiser or Audio-Technica for shotgun mics... For all of the short subject and feature length film sets I have been on, and all the film/audio studios and sound stages I've been in, I have NEVER seen an Azden mic used. This does not mean they are not good mics - it just means the pros I know don't use them. - Nu'uanu
