Which laptop should I get? - Joie I need to buy a new laptop, and the one I've been really considering is the Dell Inspiron 1525. Is it a good laptop? I want to get a good price, I want it to be stylish, but I also want it to work good of course. After adding all the features I wanted it to it (including Microsoft Word for Student) it came out to $713. Some other features I added was the 6 cell battery, upgraded the sound one level, and a webcam. The other laptop I was comparing it to was the HP dv6700z, but after adding everything I wanted to it it came out to $803, which is considerablly more. So I want to know if the Inspiron is a good laptop, or is there another one comparable to these two such as a gateway perhaps which is as good or a better price? Also, is there anyway I can get the Microsoft word for cheaper, because before I added it my price was only 564, which is more my price range. Thanks, all advice is appreciated!

Best Answer: The Inspiron 1525 is a good laptop. I would give the edge to the HP DV6700z in regards to overall quality, but the Dell support is currently stronger than HP in my professional opinion. A Gateway laptop will not be in the same league. You aren't going to find Microsoft Office or Word for less money than Dell. They sell it for less than pretty much anyone else I know. You can use alternatives like http://www.openoffice.org for Opensource (free) emulator of the Office Suite. Look for coupon codes online for the Dell and HP if you want to knock off a couple hundred more. You can find them often online. - Darren, PC Friendly, Inc.

Its a great laptop for all your basic uses, such as internet, music, schoolwork. Microsoft Office is super expensive, and it's tough to get it cheaper than that for the newest vers. You could always get Microsoft works for free, but it does not feature many of the things that make office so easy to use. - snakehawk37
