Best Answer: it's OK HTIB's are mediocre at best, but if you have to go HTIB, ONKYO is the way to go. Also, 7.1 is nice, but i is VERY impractical. My listening area is 5.3w x 7 (16 feet by 21 feet) meters. I cannot in good concience use 7.1 for my room and I have REAL speakers. I recommend with speakers that size be used in a 5.1 config because those speakers wouldn't be any good in a romm over 10 x12 (3 x4 meters). - Harrison H

7.1 is good for high def movies recorded in the new 7.1 format. You must set up your speakers or it wont sound good. Look at all options in your price range. You might be able to buy a better Onkyo and speakers for a little more and be happier in the long run. Go to a local shop if you can and test drive the stuff in your price range. Dont rush it. Pioneer makes good receivers also at a good price. - tdog

ok depends what you are using it for. if you using it for home theatre it would be a great package. i have an older style onkyo amplifier and it hasnt missed a beat in 6 years. still has heaps of extras that will give the competitors a run for their money. but.... i wouldnt buy the package. those speakers are way too small for that amp. get the amp seperate and ask about some more powerful speakers and sub woofer. i run JBL's off mine and it rocks the paintings off the walls (no joke) worth paying that lil bit extra for something that wil last you the next 20 to 30 years!!! - bluey1201
