harryshec35 Really long ethernet cable, or new wireless adapter? - harryshec35 I have a netgear WPNT834 wireless router, and a WPNT121 USB adapter in my computer, but Vista's not compatible with the adapter. I have dual gigabit LAN ports at 10/100/1000MHz which I would like to utilize, but I would also be ok with getting a new adapter if it would work with my current router. My two questions are, Is there an adapter that works with vista and my current router, or, Where can I get some really long ethernet cords? (long enough to reach from the middle floor of a house, either down to the basement, or up the stairs and all the way to the end of the hall)
Best Answer: I don't know about the compatibility part, but the cable part I can answer. I'm a "cable guy" that installs computer networks. If we get a call for someone that wants a home-made 100 ft patchcord we'd sell it for pretty cheap if comparing to going to Best buy or Future shop and buying a 100 ft network cable. Look up network cable installers in your area, and ask if they can make you one, and you'll go pick it up and pay cash. If you're lucky to know someone like me, you could get it for free since we often through out 100ft lengths of cable as it's a nuisance to carry around. (Since we buy in 1000ft lengths). The RJ-45's that go on either end cost like 50 cents each. - Digital Mind
either way your gonna be out a couple of bucks i would suggest a wifi certified wireless adapter which will connect to any wireless system http://www.newegg.com great place and good prices delivers in about 3 days - bamabowhunter
