cpukilla101 What is a network card? - cpukilla101 what is this network card ONBOARD 10/100 NETWORK CARD? Also can I use it instead of a wireless router adapter for my new pc? Or do I need to get a wireless router adapter (my router is a Linksys Wireless-G 2.4 GHz broadband router)
Best Answer: The ONBOARD 10/100 NETWORK CARD can be used for wired network. You need a cable to connect to router lan port from the ethernet port on the adapter. If you want to go wireless, for sure, you need a wireless adapter to receive wireless network signal. And also you need to do the following to make wireless working: >On your computer:,check your wireless connection ( You just installed) option, set IP "automatically obtain" >On your computer, Control Panel-->Network Connections, right click the wireless connection you just installed and choose "all available wireless connections", find the router ( ask you landlord or roommates for that), double click it to connect. Provide password if needed. Good luck. Alan Yang @ Iron Oak IT inc., Calgary, AB http//www.ironoakit.com - Alan Y
it has to be a wireless network card to connect to your router. You will need a router because your router is what sends out the wireless signal. - Schvinger
You can use that instead but you will need an ethernet cable. There should be 4 ports to go with the WAN port on the back of your router to plug in to. - acuity007
