Best Answer: dude, im preee much in the same situaition as u!! okay, but honestly DONT get the mACBoook air. it got some bad reviews, and you cant insert movies, cds in it. its veryyy fragile and about $3,000. if you think about it you have to have it for about five years.. I would get the macbook in white or black. its really nice and simple and perfect for ur high school situation(like me!) - fitch _is_Life
I use a MacBook Pro, it does all and more than I use and I use most of the applications in my work. Don't be put off by the others, Mac is by far the better kit. You can use Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint if you need to, from memory it will cost about $150 to buy the software which will give you what you need. The software that comes with the Mac is excellent, anyone who said its not is wrong. I would defiantly go for Mac over PC any day of the week, its fast and very rarely crashes unlike PC. Don't go for the MacAir, go MacBook Pro, I don't think that you will be disappointed with it. You will have a better machine with more kit that the Air. You will be paying because of the size for the Air, and with the money you will save you can buy the Microsoft software. I've looked at the Air to use when I travel, but I have realised that I would only be buying it because it looks so nice and as I will be away I would want the features on the Pro. Good luck with college! - Mac
Don't get the Air man.. You won't be able to listen to listen, watch, burn CD's/DVD's.. There's no disc drive you have to pay for an external one and carry it around with you. I bought a macbook pro (2.4GHZ C2D, 4GB ram, 160gig HD) last fall.. It does it all.. I use it mainly for DJing, but it's awesome to be able to hook up to my TV when friends are over so we can watch stuff off you tube.. All U C etc. etc. I think you should get the Macbook.. The Air is just so limited. The MB isn't really that much of a B*tch to carry around.. I don't see why anyone would pay more to get less with an Air. Edit: Also, don't let these windows people talk you down.. You can run windows flawlessly on a Mac with bootcamp or parallels. - No Shelter Here
First of all, if you are doing work on it, for school, then I strongly recommend buying a Windows based laptop. Most schools tend to use Windows and it is much easier to transfer infomation. Thats just my opinion, anyways. But buying a Macbook Air. Well, to be honest, it is only really for looks. If you are all up for looks, buy it. Otherwise buy a normal laptop (Mac/Windows) because that way you get more for your money. - Cameron S :D
