Question Queen Mentally Special! Can any computer TECHNICIANS tell me whether or not I can repair my registry without having to reinstall? - Question Queen Mentally Special! The whole OS? OK, so my secondary IDE channels show an error. It's Error Code 19, which means that my DVD+RW drive is corrupted. It disappeared. I have Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop with Windows XP. It's 2 1/2 yrs. old. Is there any way I can fix the registry editor without having to RE-install the whole operating system? I was instructed to simply delete the upper & lower filters. I'm still having the same problem. I uninstalled the secondary IDE & then reinstalled it. It said FOUND NEW HARDWARE. But the _NEC DVD+RW 6650 (whatever) drive is damaged, missing, & corrupted. Also, can someone e-mail me privately to help further guide me through this issue? My e-mail is hay_voovay@yahoo.com Thanks. You can answer here, but if I have any additional questions, or if I don't understand, can you please help me? I'll let you know.
Best Answer: Clean the registry and reload the drivers Go here for registry cleaners and drivers - use the onpage menu to locate what you need. http://freetutorials.name/Reference1/UtilitiesDrivers_tutorials.html I use Glary Utilities listed under diagnostics and/or articles. If any problems, I use system restore after Glary Utilities (Glary Utilities removes or corrects the problem - then system restore) Use the onpage menu for Drivers and any other software or instructions you may need Also here for antivirus/antispyware http://freetutorials.name/Reference1/AntiVirus_tutorials.html and here for free computer help http://freetutorials.name/Reference1/UtilitiesDrivers_tutorials.html#help hope this helps falcon - navyfalcon1
