Chesney Photo Printers? - Chesney What is the best kind of photo printer, something worth the ink and will print lots of photos. I found someone on craigslist selling an Epson PictureMate Photo Printer for 30 dollars. I spoke to a guy on the phone about the cartridges he said they run around 35 bucks and will give you about 100 sheets of photo paper (I assume he meant that much will print out 100 photos. Is that worth it? This is for my mom and I want to get something that she can use alot but not break the bank. Thanks!
Best Answer: These 'new' Kodak Easyshares are supposed to be very good - their best selling feature is the inexpensive ink. http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=10580&pq-locale=en_US&_requestid=9143 Check consumer reports and reviews, from forums if you can - the reviews vary by the models... http://www.gadgetboyz.net/review/5300.html http://blogs.consumerreports.org/electronics/2007/05/claim_check_che.html http://www.pcworld.com/search?qt=kodak+easyshare+printer# http://www.epinions.com/search/?submitted_form=searchbar&search_vertical=all&tax_name=&search_string=kodak+easyshare+printer&searchbar_submit.x=0&searchbar_submit.y=0&searchbar_submit=Search - Lydia
Truthfully being a scrapbooker I find it's MUCH MUCH cheaper (the ink is soooo expensive!!) to order your prints online (snapfish.com) then print them yourself--it's simply not the same quality. Kinko's is 29 cents per 4x6 copy and that's using a sony (top of the line) printer w/ perfect clarity. The best part is online you usally get 10 prints--FREE when you first sign up!! - Happily Ever Us!
I agree. small photo printers equal bad news. I agree with the other guy, Epson has great photo quality. So does cannon, but the ink could cost up to $80 to replace. Which would be about 1 time a month if you're printing a lot of photos. HP has a great Photosmart series. I would go with one of those. They're inkjet, ink is cheap and I know Officemax recycles them and give you and 3$ rebate for each one making your ink even less expensive. I suggest like an HP 7280 which is on sale at most places right now. - bearlvsme
I dont recommend used inkjets because they have a finite lifetime. At some point the heads will clog beyond the ability of the cleaning program to solve or the ink pads beneath the printer will become saturated with the excess ink they sop up. A new printer is $70 (or less) so why buy someone else's headache? I recommend Epson cx series scanner/copier/printer (cx7400/cx8400) because of the print quality and the warranty. For a year Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one. Ink cartridges are expensive, but you can get cheap replacements for $5 which work well here http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp You can find the printers at buy.com, usually in the $60-$70 range BEFORE any rebates, if applicable. - yisgood
