Turnabout Is Fair Play Aaaaaaarghhh! What did they do to my beloved Microsoft Office? - Turnabout Is Fair Play I finally took the plunge and "upgraded" to Office 2007. What did the brain trust at Microsoft do to it?!? Why in the world would you completely revamp the most successful office suite the world has ever known and make every conceivable function alien? Those of you who have been using 2007 for awhile now, has it gotten easier? Are you as comfortable as you were with 2003 and earlier versions? How long will it take me to stop cursing the unknown drones in Redmond who are making me re-learn things I've known for 10 years?
Best Answer: I love MS office, and though I see what they were trying to do with the redesign and addition of the Ribbon interface, I am NOT fond of it, as MANY, MANY features I am accustomed to having instantaneous access to. Do not fret however!!! There is a way to restore the Traditional Interface to MS-Office!!! I am not into advertising anyone's products, but when they serve a VERY good function, I cannot ignore them. Classic Menus: Install this software to bring back the familiar menus and toolbars to Microsoft® Office 2007. The software allows you to work with Office 2007 as if it were Office 2003. Though there is a cost to this program, I have found it to be worth EVERY PENNY for me. - iAdvisor
Absolutely love 2007 and I was using Office 2000 so the change was substantial. Take your time with it and use the help function as much as possible. It's the little blue question mark in the upper right hand corner of the window. Once you have done things a few times you'll get used to it. It's primarily just a new way of presenting it. All the functions work just like they always did and lots of new things to discover also. As I said, take your time with it, explore it a bit, and I think you'll get to like it as I did. It does take a bit of an effort to get used to just like Office 2003 did when you started using it. Good luck. Hope this helps. - Dick
