Laptop Power cord problems? - Q I have a HP Compaq nx7400 laptop, and recently the power cord has been messing up. When the cord is plugged into my laptop, my laptop is dim and the battery icon is up. Usually I just kinda of juggle the plug and it starts charging again. But now it's messing up more and more. What can I do to fix this? This message keeps on popping up as well. "Smart AC adapter power output is too low for this computer."

Best Answer: go to the website of your computer brand its basically broken and youll have to buy another i know mine cost 90 dollars (i have a dell vista) it could just have completly worn out, let me give you some advise most ppl don't know this, with laptops you can't keep the plug in it all day when the battery isn't dead, your suppose to mlet the battery run dead then plug it up when it gets low, if not you burn up the battery and end up replacing it over and over again. - jade_whitis

Depending on which plug you "juggle"... If you are wiggling the part that plugs into the computer, the jack in the back of the computer needs replacing. You will need to take it to a repair shop. If the Wall plug or any connection outside the laptop is loose, you can get a new cord/power supply. Don't get a new one unless you know your laptop is fine, because a new supply won't help a bad computer. - Polonium

Same thing happend with my power cord....you can either buy a power cord from HP or what I did is went to radio shack and got a universal power cord that has 10 adapters so I can use it for playstation..cell phone etc...it was a little expensive I paid $100 for it but I can use it for many things. - Screwedrenter
