☠ϑεηηιƒετ ßταçkεπ☠ Can I use the Operating System Disc for...? - ☠ϑεηηιƒετ ßταçkεπ☠ I have an emachines operating system disc for microsoft windows vista home basic 32-bit... my mom has a gateway computer with windows xp... can I use this disc on her computer to install windows vista?
Best Answer: Nope. It's preconfigured to install a disk image with emachines drivers, etc. It will only work with that emachnes model. It's not a standard Windows install disk. I have an emachines laptop that came with the same kind of disk. It's a pain, but it's how emachines keeps $ down. They get lower license fees from Microsoft since the risk of illegal use is nil. - Jim H
By law, it's illegal since the license is for 1 computer per disk, so you will need to buy new OS CD - yap_jp
no not really it is supposed to be on one computer only per disk or key, you will run into problems just get her the upgrade to vista premium, its cheap now - DEE CON JESTED
