LCD Projector price? Its a Sanyo XP30....retail was $7,500 how much should i sell it for??!!? - Hey people, I have a Sanyo PLC-XP30 LCD projector (XGA 1024x768), 3000 ANSI LUMENS, DVI all the good things Research tells me the retail when it came out around 2002 was $7,500....how much should i sell it for? Also, what is the difference between the new $1000-1500 projectors and the $5,000-$7,500 projectors? thanks alot would appreciate any suggestions, i dont want to sell it for $1000 if i can get $2000 ya know :)?
Best Answer: I have somewhat the same dilemma (a Canon SX-60 (LCoS 1440x1050, 2500 lumens) still under warranty that originally sold in 2006 for over $5000 ... that, to date, I haven't been able to sell at $1500 (with a new $500 lamp), even though it was still sold new until recently at over $3000. I'm obviously going to have to sell for less). The problem is that projectors have dropped radically in price AND quality has improved (higher contrast ratio, better LCD panels). As a result a projector such as yours, that sold for $7500, can now be replaced with a new projector with similar specs for under $1000 (See link). Sure, yours may be better built and may have superior features in some ways ... but a new projector with similar resolution and brightness with a warranty for $900 is going to be an easier sell than even $1000 for yours. The advantage the newer ones have is incorporation of newer materials and knowledge learned in earlier models that doesn't have to be paid for out of the sale price of the new model. Ultimately the price you can sell it for will be whatever you can get, but I'd be surprised if you can sell for more than $1000. - agb90spruce
