Question and Answers

Is my boss recording my phone calls? - Is this possible? The phone is a polycom phone, it is meant to be used for personal calls, but I said some things I don't want him to know. How can I find this out? Should there be some kind of hardware attached?
Best Answer: If they have a published policy stating that they have the right to monitor your phone calls, then legally they can. If they have no policy, since you are using their equipment, they're on far more tenuous legal ground, but at least in some states, you would not be able to prosecute them. As far as *TECHNICALLY*, since you don't know what the phone plugs into - you have no way of knowing. Yes, there could be a bug in the phone, but why would they do that when they have control of the PBX which can route the call wherever they want it to. In any case, why risk it? Cell phones are your friend. - Elana
I think you're being paranoid. Unless you work for an undercover or agency or something I doubt the company would go to the expense of bugging all employees' phones. Good lesson for you though, never say anything you don't want repeated! - jobeth
