Best Answer: I'm not sure what you're doing wrong, but i've had a similar problem with an Ubuntu disk. if the OS you're trying to load is Ubuntu, Xubuntu, or Kubuntu, try WUBI (Windows Based UBuntu Installer) http://wubi-installer.org/ it installs the OS to a virtual partition, and allows you to dual-boot with that. by default, it downloads the files needed to install, but if you've already done that, you can copy / move the files in the same folder as the executable so it can use that. if you decide that you like it, you can set up a partition for it and use the wubi-move-to-partition script. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide?action=AttachFile&do=view&target=wubi-move-to-partition ( open terminal and run: sudo sh wubi-move-to-partition /dev/sda9 /dev/sda10 where sda9 is the main drive, and sda10 is the swap partition) - jascotty
