H&R Slow wireless connection? 10 points? - H&R My internet connection is quite slow specially in browsing. I have a wireless home network using 3COM router and D-Link G-DWA 510 network adapter....the router is only 5 meters far from me and I'm getting full signal strength. Any ideas?
Best Answer: has it always been slow? or has something changed recently? if it has Always been slow than try using Firefox instead. it seems a lot faster to me. one of the reasons it is slow could be your browser programs. you can try to run your INTERNET explorer with no add-ons and see if it is faster. if so than you will need to disable the ones causing you problems. you can run IE with no add-ons by going to start, all programs, system tools, INTERNET explorer no add ons. you might also make sure your wireless router is secured. and not unsecured. someone else could be using your signal. thus slowing your own bandwidth. - richard_mcdaniel_2005
If you get same slow speed with LAN connection and no changes of speed by using another browser, I would recommend to run antivirus, spy ware removal software. Delete temp files, cookies etc. Shut down and restart computer. - vern
check your wireless card is installed propley and check its specks (the 1 in da computer) - da secret
Go to D links main website and download the latest firmware for your wireless product. Also you can change the wireless channel and see if that works. - Smithers
I would suggest connecting wired and going to speedtest.net and checking speed. Then connect wirelessly again and doing the speed test again. If wireless is considerable amount slower, then it is probably a problem with your computer or router.
3Com routers suck. Get a good Linksys WRT54G or a Netgear wireless router. And for cripes sake get a good wifi card - D-Link sucks. - hot IT guy
Try disconnecting the power cable from the modem and wait 5 minutes and plug it back in. I have this problem myself and it is the only way to get the speed back to normal. This will not disable your wireless security.Give that a try. - Emperor
It could be the type of internet that you have or your computer could be running slow. - bonney_55
Try downloading one of the faster networking things. Search a few sites and your bound to find one. - Soph
