Alpine Lover Two Alpine type E 12" with mono amp? - Alpine Lover I have two Alpine Type E's. The SWE-1243 I have one MRP-M500 powering them I was wondering if I got one more MRP-M500 would it be worth it and would there be a better boom! The subs a 750w Peek and the amp is 500w rms. also should i turn the subs facing the inside of my car or the trunk for more internal bass?
Best Answer: Assuming that since you are using a mono amp (MRP-M500), you are running your two single 4 ohm subs parallel at 2 ohms. If you were to add another amp, you would have to run your subs at 4 ohms, therefor, adding another of that amp would only increase your total power by 100 watts (300x1 & 300x1 @ 4 ohms.. rather than 500x1 @ 2 ohms), and IMO, wouldn't be worth it. Never take the "peak power" into consideration when figuring out how much. ALWAYS go by the RMS rating on your electronics. The RMS, in an easy way to be understood, means continuous power. Yeah, your subs can handle 700 watts, but you wouldn't want to continually give them that... maybe for a few burbs of bass. Does that make sense to you? As for the position of the subs... Trust your ears, every car and setup is different, so you should try many different sub placements and firing angles until you decide what you like the best. Generally, they will be louder facing your trunk. In conclusion, keep your current setup the way it is, as it will be the safest for not damaging your subs. If you want a "better boom", upgrade your equipment, or sound deaden your car or at least your trunk lid. Never push your equipment too hard, or you will pay the price. - FrostDiggity
