DCP Latency problem. Glitchy audio playback.? - Hey people, I recently bought a new soundcard (Audiophile 2496) for recording music and just general better sound quality. I've installed it and everything (visually) works fine. BUT when playing music in itunes (or any other app) the sound is very choppy with any cpu stress. I've trolled the internet for a solution but can't find any. Things ive tried: Updating sound and graphics drivers. Disabling graphics card. Disabling network adapters. Disabling USB ports. Switching PCI slots Checked for any IRC conflicts. Reinstalled windows. I downloaded DCP latency checker and it is usually always in the red. I can't what is causing the latency anywhere. When going back to my intergrated sound card the performance is better but I still have red spikes of latency every 4 seconds or so. Its annoying me to the point where I feel like buying a new computer to see if it works on that. Here are some details of my (old ass) computer. Best Answer: Your DPC latency is too high, hence all the audio problems. Usually high DPC latencies are due to hardware conflicts. Did you disable your onboard sound card? Did you completely uninstall any drivers from your previous sound card? Are your other drivers installed correctly? All hardware and software may contribute to DPC latency, so you should ensure everything is installed and properly accounted for before you go off buying a new PC. Also, are you using the right drivers for your M-Audio card? They should be ASIO drivers. If the above does not work, I recommend disabling things one at a time again and checking to see if your sound works fine then: USB controllers, Wi-Fi, LAN, etc. Finally, it may just be that your sound card is faulty. Try replacing the sound card before replacing your PC. - z3th
