lespaulkid01 Are Stereo Amplifiers still being made? - lespaulkid01 I have an old Pioneer Stereo System (from around 1973) in my room at home. It is a big system (5 components) but everything is separate. The Amp is one component, the Radio tuner is another, the CD drive is a third, then there is the tape deck, and turntable.. all separate from each other. I got new bose speakers last year and every once in a while they sound a little fuzzy ( i know its not the speakers because i have checked) and i have been looking to replace the amplifier before it completely burns out, but all i can find are the home theater systems that have all 5 crammed into 1 monstrosity. so basically my question is does anyone (pioneer, alpine, or any other brand) still produce the amp by its lonesome? i don't really want to spend $1,500 on a home theater receiver if i don't need to. But all i can find are car amplifiers.
Best Answer: All the big makes still do, if you look on their websites. If you can get hold of one I highly recommend the A5, made by Cambridge Audio - i've been using one for as long as i can remember (mine's really old and they still make the new ones the same way...) and it sounds great. Pick up a hifi magazine and read the reviews, there are god knows how many stereo amplifiers around. They definatly are still going - alot of people want them for music (i use a seperate amp for home cinema and music - the stereo amp is far better at playing music) - eatitupwormshero
