Best Answer: It can beep for many reasons. No memory installed,no video card present,no cpu fan pluged in. - Safe Mode
Your motherboard is detecting missing components such as video card and Ram modules etc... and giving you Bios codes to troubleshoot the problem. When you turn off the power supply it takes a few minutes for the power to drain out . That is why you are still hearing the beep codes for a while after you turn it off. When you add on the Ram etc.. the beep codes should vanish unless there is a problem. If you still hear the beep codes after installing the rest of the stuff then write down the beep codes and goggle it.for more details of the codes and their meanings.. Remember that all bios chips manufacturers don't give out the same codes so it's best that you find out who made your bios chip. If it's Awards then google for Award bios codes. - amdiag
i'm pretty sure it's looking for a RAM (random access memory). you might call it DIMM (dual inline memory module) or SIMM (single inline memory module) if it's an old motherboard. your power supply dies slowly because it cools off first. - Patrick
