Question and Answers

Need speakers to go with new receiver.? - I just ordered an Onkyo TX-SR507 5.1-Channel A/V Surround Home Theater Receiver and I am looking to get surround speakers to go with it. I don't know much about this audio stuff so im not sure what wattage the speakers would have to be to match. Also Im on a 175 to 200 dollar budget, so Im looking for the best in that price range. Any help would be appreciated.
Best Answer: Do NOT pay attention to the wattage of the speakers. It is only there to distract you with promises of big boom. Every manufacturer uses different methods for reporting power anyway so as long as you are in the ball park(bearing in mind that Onkyo is a reputable manufacturer) you are fine. After some searching I found the best deal close to your price. A full 5.1 Polk Audio speaker package normally priced at $600. Polk RM 6750 will be best bang for your buck. I have them and they are fantastic Order from Amazon.com also you can see the reviews are good. Oh go to Best buy they recently had it for 199.99 and see if they have any left. - Bauss19
I guess these guy's didn't see that you had already ordered a receiver (duh).... anyways... depending on the total wattage of your receiver you can get some decent ceiling speakers or bookshelf speakers for a good deal at Best Buy or any Home Theater Store online... . I personally like Klimpsh of Polk Audio... but for your budget you can go with something more in your price range. For your receiver you shouldn't need a speaker more than 150 watts -- Professional Home Theater Adviser & Business Owner -- CA - theone78
I would suggest Yamaha NS-SP5800BL 5.1-Channel Home Theater Speaker Package http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001BFDE92?ie=UTF8&tag=computer0bd-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001BFDE92 or another good choice Klipsch B-2 Synergy Bookshelf Loudspeaker. Excellent sound http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NGTKOI?ie=UTF8&tag=computer0bd-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000NGTKOI
I suggest the Sony DAVHDX265 home theater system. It's got amazing sound quality for the price (between $160-200). Not only that, but it's made by Sony so you know its going to be great and last a long time. It comes with a receiver but I would just use the speakers since you bought a much better receiver. Here's some reviews on it. http://www.viewpoints.com/Sony-DAVHDX265-Theater-System-reviews Hope that helps. - DanMagic
