Question and Answers

qignis How do I scan documents? - qignis I have been tasked with the responsibility to scan and digitize over 7,000 documents for our office and needed help on the following. 1. Which commercial software e.g. Abbyy, OmniPage, etc will give me the highest accuracy seeing the documents contained printed characters as well as handwritten notes, signatures and stamps? 2. What type of scanner will I need? We have a basic scanner at the moment - HP ScanJet 3400C 3. Is there a document management system I could use to automatically categorize the scanned documents?
Best Answer: Wow you will be in for a surprise. 1. Omnipage is the best 2. Basic scanner will litterally piss you off over time as it only does a page at a time. 3. Not really. (Not that I know off) 4. If you have the budget to buy a better scanner that allows multifunction. Such as a HP Multifuntion printer and scanner. As they usually tend to have a tray to then scan a few hundred pages in a row. This will save you time if have a time constraint. Otherwise your all set to go. Cheers FYI If you have RICOH or NRG photocopiers in your departement do keep in mind that they can offer scanning and scan to folder depending on the model. Very useful. AR - blurico
