at7777 Buying new laptop...which one is good? - at7777 I am buying a new laptop for school (university) purposes. I am confused on which computer to get. I mostly need it in order to use the basic stuff such as word, excel, PowerPoint (basically business related) etc. Could someone please give me recommendations? (What do you think of the Hp G60?) -Much appreciated :)
Best Answer: For education purposes i would get a Mac because you don't have to deal with problems as much. But some people can't afford mac's cause they are way overpriced, so if you don't have the budget i would recommend a Lenovo T Series. They are durable fast ( and i personally like the way it looks) I've had a T Series for 3 years I've knocked it off a 4 foot high counter twice with no damage and spilled coke on it. I also has a special chip in it that detects drops and turns off the hard drive before it can get damaged. Hope this helps. - cmputrgk
HP G60 not too big??? I suggest.. HP Pavilion DV4-1227US 14.1-Inch http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0021L9HK0?ie=UTF8&tag=yahanswer-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0021L9HK0 - Thomas
When I bought a new laptop a year ago I bought a Dell and I bought the best warranty they had. Dealing with dell tech support compared to others has been so amazing. I would buy dell again just because there is no hassle when I need something replaced. No jumping through hoops. I tell them what is wrong and I get the new part the next day. - meli312
hello, if I were you, I would buy a Mac. They are more expensive, but you can't say that a pc is better. I used to have PCs, but a few month ago I switch to a Mac, and I am very happy with it. I am a student and I think that I use computers like you, to do the basics (exel, word, etc.), and Mac is your best choice. Hope I helped.
Get the MacBook - check out Apple refurbished for cheaper MacBooks Guide to Mac Leopard here http://www.apple.com/findouthow/mac/ The MacBook also has the multi touch mouse pad http://www.apple.com/macbook/ Macs run Microsoft Office:mac or iWork09 from Apple which works with MS office http://www.apple.com/iwork/ All Macs can also run Windows with Bootcamp, VMware which contrary to some opinions DOESN’T run Windows slowly. You can also develop apps for the Mac or iPhone with the iPhone SDK http://developer.apple.com/iphone/program/ Or you can download OpenOffice3.0 http://openoffice-software.com/new/home/?affebnid=124&gid=&ovid=&yid=&msid=&hop=howgood which is native to Mac and FREE - it works with MS Office too. All Macs come with iLife09 http://www.apple.com/ilife/ PhotoBooth and Garage Band and Safari web browser. There is also HEAPs of FREE stuff for Mac http://mac.softpedia.com/ http://www.opensourcemac.org/ http://www.macupdate.com/ http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/ - iphoneguy
