should i take the cartridges out of my printer for not using it for few days? - recently i bought Lexmark X2600, its very simple printer+copy+scan but inkjet as you can see here: http://www.lexmark.com/lexmark/product/home/644/0,6970,204816596_653293766_1189421700_en,00.html?tabId=1 i dont use it a lot, just printing some pages after in each few days, so i was wondering if im not going to use the printer for few days the cartridges are not going to get dry or something??? it's the first time i buy a printer so i donno about printers a lot... thanks
Best Answer: No, it is perfectly fine to leave them in for any period of time. Sometimes I don't use my printer for weeks and everything is fine. - davis523

No! First a cartridge out of the machine will tend to dry out without the protection of the pads it parks on when not in use. Second some printers rely on cartridge internal pressure. This is particularly the case with Lexmark. Remove the cartridge and it may NEVER print again even if it is full. I have known this happen when someone fitted new cartridges, did no remove the seal strips on the contacts, removed the cartridges and took off the strips and re-fitted them. It would NOT print. - Colinc
