Why didn't the automatic return kick in on my Kenwood KD 30-70 Turntable? - Today I was listening to a 45 of Jackson Browns Running on empty. After the record was done playing the automatic return did not kick in. Is this because I did not give it enough time ( I gave it at least 10 seconds ) or was it something to do with the record? ( this was the only time it has ever done this )
Best Answer: What's a turntable? No, seriously, why don't you try it again. If it still does it, the microswitch on the tonearm pivot that tells the return mechanism to do it's thing may be dirty or worn out. You'll have to open it up to get to it and if you don't work on things like that regularly it's not likely that you will be able to fix it. You can get turntables on eBay pretty cheap. There are a lot of them around and there is not much demand anymore. Kenwood isn't exactly a high end brand either. I have a Thorens that I got at a yard sale for $5. - Carl L
