Please help
Best Answer: Check to see if there are any component inputs, they'll offer 1080i resolution. I use it from my xbox360 on my 720p flatscreen to get 1080i - Paul R
I think the reason for the misunderstanding is that 1080p and 1080i require different bandwidths. The P stands for progressive, while the I stands for interlaced. Progressive scanning is when the entire frame is replaced on each refresh, while interlaced only half the frame is replaced on each refresh. So if you had a TV with 6 lines of resolution... 1 2 3 4 5 6 ...it would refresh lines 1, 3, and 5 on one refresh. Then on the next it would replace lines 2, 4, and 6. Then back to 1, 2, and 3. Etc, etc. Progressive takes much more bandwidth to transmit the signal than interlaced content. HDMI is the best connection, capable of transmitting everything up to 1080p. Component is the next best, and it is commonly thought to support up to 720p. However, it will also handle 1080i content. So your TV will be built with component connections, and you should use those to connect to the PS3. - Solarisphere
I fin it hard to believe they would make a 1080i w/ no HDMI, unless its one of the first, before HDMI. It has to have component, use those...they work just as well. - James D
Most likely it has a DVI connector. Then you can use a DVI-to-HDMI cable. Alternatively you can use component. - TV guy
