Question and Answers

Nick T Will Dolby Digital on my PS3 work if i hook it to my TV with HDMI then optical from TV to receiver? - Nick T I have a Panasonic 42" Plasma with an optical out and a Panasonic receiver that only has one optical audio in. I want to hook the TV optical audio into the receiver optical because I have other components hooked into the TV via HDMI that support Dolby Digital as well. (DirecTV, DVD) I was wondering if the Dolby Digital will work for the other components as well as my PS3 on the receiver with only having one connection, which will be the optical from the TV.
Best Answer: Depends. Most TVs, due to copy protection issues, don't pass through digital audio from HDMI to s/pdif, so check the User Manual/Guide for your TV. - TV guy
No, you should connect optical directly from PS3, DirectTV and DVD player to receiver for audio. - BANG P
