Which Blu-Ray Company (Sony, Samsung, Panasonic) makes the best Blu-Ray Players? - crazybojangles I'm about to buy a blu-ray player, and I'm not sure which to get, and by that, I mean which company makes the best overall.

Best Answer: Panasonic has fared the best in the video tests (for both Blu-ray and DVD media) administered by Home Theater Magazine. The other brands have video glitches which you may or may not ever notice. But once you notice such a glitch, you will see it forever. Sony makes the best Blu-Ray Players - jeffy

I use my Sony PS3 as a bluray player. It really is great. I am told that other bluray players take 2-3 minutes to load up movies but the PS3 takes approxiamately 30 seconds. I use a bluetooth remote made by Sony to control the PS3 - so it really isn't like using a "games-console" but it is infact a bluray player. The PS3 looks very sleek and can be used as a web browser in your living room, a video/music player and a photo display (with 80gb hard drive that can be increased). The PS3 can obviously be used as a games console to play great games. As for video and audio quality, the PS3 really is mind blowingly good. It has optical outputs and HDMI for full high definition sound and video. My friend has a Samsung bluray player and my PS3 is noticeably superior when it comes to picture quality. As far as value for money goes, I really think the PS3 is the best option. Also the PS3 can be upgraded via regular free firmware updates. This means that when a newer version of bluray comes out you can update you PS3 easily to make it compatible whereas other bluray players that do not have this internet connectivity option so you cannot make use of newer bluray features. The Playstation 2 was not a good DVD player - However the Playstation 3 is a top of the range bluray player and one of the best on the market. Also - the PS3 has a very good DVD upscaler, so when you watch DVD's on it it makes them look better than on a normal DVD player. This is great when watching your older movie collection and sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between bluray and upscaled DVD. - riddlesticks
