wireless printer question? - ctmom05 My husband and I each have our own laptop that we use wirelessly. We also have a wireless printer - HP Photosmart C4580. Both of us are able to print successfully. However, on my husband's laptop no scanner is listed when he accesses scanners and printers thru the control panel. It is only showing up on my laptop. Since it is all all-in-one unit, and he is able to execute a print command, why wouldn't the scanning process also work?

Best Answer: Does he have the correct printer driver set up? I would try reinstalling the driver to see if this corrects his problem. -

It sounds like the drivers weren't all loaded on your husband's laptop. Are both laptops using the same Operating system? Try reinstalling the drivers from the CD onto your husband's laptop. - court

maybe you haven't installed the driver or it is corrupt? try re installing the drivers again from disc, not generic ones from Microsoft, which sometimes happens? I have a Brother all in one and my console is on the task bar, my difference is I have ethernet LAN - pisces19522000

A work around for this would be to access the printer via it's assigned LAN IP (ie. 192.168.1.?). That way he can directly access the scanner. You can find out the printer's IP by printing out the printer's configuration page via the printer's menu.
