Question and Answers

Arnold S To all you DSL users who use a modem, may I ask a question? - Arnold S I use a Zoom ADSL X5 with four Ethernet ports and a phone line port that is idle or running 24/7. I have some curiosity as to why my modem is overheating a bit and steps as to how to prevent it by cooling the device.
Best Answer: Hi Arnold, The moment you turn on your DSL modem, it starts the communication between the service provider and itself and in real terms is never idle. It always keeps a check on the connection (referred as Keep Alive) to ensure a stable connectivity. Overheating may be caused mainly by the surroundings / where the router is kept. It is advisable to keep the router at some height so that it gets some air / keep the room cool. In case it is overheating too much, it is advised you to get it replaced from the service provider. Wireless..:) -
It seems to be the issue with the modem because it should not overheat itself. Call your ISP and ask them to replace your modem with another one.
There might be a problem with your modem, or phone try reconnecting your wires if problem still happening call your ISP meanwhile put a fan or cooler by your modem.
