funksoulfx Power supply for Antec 1200 case, and MSI 790FX-GD70 AMD 790FX AM3 Motherboard? - funksoulfx There is a deal on Ebuyer.com at the moment the Antec 1200 case and the Antec CP-850W. Is this OK for Crossfire? But my main concern is that it's going to be so big that if I were to fill my motherboard (not likely but would like the option) it would block parts of the mobo or fill the case and restrict airflow. This is my PC specs and I've saved the Basket on Ebuyer.com and will purchase it in one week: MSI 790FX-GD70 AMD 790FX AM3 Motherboard - £140.36 AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition (3.2GHz) Socket AM3 - £146.18 Powercolor 1GB HD 4870 GDDR5 - £107.98 Antec 1200 Full Tower Case + Antec CP 850W Modular PSU - "Exclusive Special Offer Bundle" (is this OK for Crossfire? and is the PSU going to be too big and resitrictive!?!?!?!) - £199.99 Corsair 4gb (2x2gb) Ddr3 1333mhz Xms3 Memory Kit Cl9 (9-9-9-24) - £65.20 Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB Cache - OEM Caviar Blue - £37.98 Sony AD-7240S 24x DVD±RW DL & RAM Internal SATA Black Bare Drive - OEM - £16.99 Zalman CNPS10X Extreme Ultra Quiet Socket 1156, 1366, 775, AM3, AM2+, 939, 754 Tower Processor Cooler - £48.71 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium w/SP1 - W/ Windows 7 Upgrade Offer Form - licence and media - 1 PC - OEM - DVD - 64-bit - English - £87.22 Logitech G11 Gaming Keyboard - USB - UK - £39.84 Logitech MX518 Optical Gaming Mouse - USB £26.47 Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound Thermal paste 3.5gram - £5.50 Arctic Silver ArctiClean 30ml Thermal material remover and thermal surface purifier - £5.15 Belkin Anti-Static Wrist Band - £3.77 Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset - £24.99 TOTAL: £956.33 - can't spend any more than that, less is good but more is definately a no. I already own a Samsung Syncmaster 2032MW 20" Widescreen 1680x1050 HD Monitor, Logitech X230 2.1 Speakers and a 1.3MP Logitech Webcam. Is everything compatible first of all, and is this semi-modular PSU going to be too big inside. I won't put the full amount of RAM in neither will I put 4 Graphic Cards in Crossfire, but I want the option to be there so is this CTX PSU going to be a problem? Otherwise can someone use Ebuyer to find me a PSU that is about 750w or more, that can handle Crossfire and support everything else an that will fit in the Antec 1200. Also a diff PSU may save me money. This is the first time I am building a PC so I think I have everything I need? Lastly, what do you think of my setup for my first gaming rig? :) I'll be pre-ordering Modern Warfare 2 ohh yeeeeeeeeee, PEACE! - Note please answer all the questions in this question, whoever answers the questions to what I've asked thoroughly and with good reason will get the 10 points and a hamster - FX
Best Answer: The cp850 is a poweful PSU and of great quality. It'll handle it and a lot more (i.e overclocking). -
That should be enough. Over 900W should be better. - dat rapper
The PSU should be fine though for max stability under load, something closer to 1000w would give you more room for error. Should be a sweet rig. - Miss Static
