Question and Answers

I am wondering what sort of macbook is needed to do basic editing, smoothly, with Final Cut Pro.? - I am making small music videos for my internship and my boss is willing to invest in a Macbook and Final Cut Pro editing software. I am trying to find out what specifications are needed to run Final Cut smoothly. I am also wondering if, for basic editing, the much cheaper Final Cut Express 4.0 will work. I just need to do basic importing of video/audio, basic cuts, transitions, fading, and other effects. Please help me out! Thanks
Best Answer: I have a 13'' MacBook pro. Which start out at $1199. I purchased mine from the refurbished section on the Online Store for $1074. I know my friends use Final Cut on their MacBooks with only 2 GB of RAM. But it would likely be a good idea to go ahead and get 4 GB of RAM for Final Cut. But any Mac will run it smoothly but it will be a better experience with 4 GB (if that makes sense). And i'm sure Final Cut 4.0 would be plenty for 'basic' editing. Final Cut Pro is for people who are very serious about their editing. Take a look at it and compare them first. This is for Final Cut Express 4.0 http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB278Z/A#overview This is for Final Cut Pro http://store.apple.com/us_smb_78313/product/MB642#overview I would personally go with the Express version. It is SO much cheaper and should be plenty. Hope this helps! :) - daniel_skyline2004
