Best Answer: Yes, it is. You should spend $90 more for Pioneer 819 instead of Pioneer 519 because this receiver has DTS-HD MA and Dolby True HD decoder on board. With this receiver, you can hear HD audio formats from Blu-ray movies and Blu-ray music disc. - BANG P
It's a pretty good entry level system you should be happy with it for a long time either way you go...the Pioneer and the HK receivers are very different machines...The HK is a kind of audiophile entry level bear bones receiver not fancy at all but has the essentials while the pioneer has a lot more bells and whistles, in fact the complaints against the Pioneer is that it has too many bells and whistles and is hard to set up for that reason. So its kind of a personal preference question, Do you like the minimalist approach or do you like to be tinkering with the set up all the time...??? - Lance
Yes it is pretty decent but Harman Kardon products are not the best. - Terry Y
Pioneer is a very good product. Take a look at this set up, Onkyo HT-S6200 a 7.1 receiver and 7.1 speaker set up for about $600. This would cost you less than going with the Pioneer receiver and Polk audio speaker and Dayton sub woofer (low quality brand). Onkyo is a much better brand as a complete system. Hope this will help you out. - bbt91945
