Home speaker system help? - I use a Rotel 980 BX amp with 2 polk audio model s10 speakers but get terrible sound quality when plugged into my PS3. I also attached a Gale mini-motor speaker which produces similarly poor sound. This is all old equipment that I recently inherited so is this just how it's going to be now? Anything I can do to improve the quality? Please note I am not very experienced with things like this but i do think all the connections are properly made. Please also note that I am unsure if these devices have been used in conjunction before. PLEASE HELP THEY LOOK AWESOME AND I DON'T WANNA LOSE THEM!

Best Answer: That's good equipment, hang on to it. Do you have both the Rotel RB-980BX amplifier and the RC-980BX preamp? If yes, do you have one of the preamp outputd connected to the amp input using a stereo RCA cable? Do you have the PS3 connected to the preamp AUX input? If you only have the amp, then you need a preamp, that's why it sounds terrible. - Bytefield
