Chris how can i put itunes library on an mp3 player? - Chris I bought a sirius stiletto 2 and would like to put my itunes library on it - how can I "convert" or transfer those songs? Thanks!
Best Answer: iTunes music and video have DRM copyright protection, you can only play it on your computer or your iPod player. If you want to put them on other portable player such as PSP, Zen, Zune, MP3/MP4 player, etc. You have to remove the DRM protection at first. I found a media converter can do that, it's easy to use and works pretty well for me, you may download it for a try. http://www.youtubetoipod.biz/drm-remover.html Hope it helps. Hi, I've done this before and can help. Watch out, most of the other answers are not only incorrect, they suggest buying software. You don't need to buy anything to put your iTunes library on a non-iPod MP3 player. As you probably know, iTunes will only sync to iPods. Also, iTunes songs you purchased before January 2009 may be DRM protected. (as of January 2009, iTunes no longer sells DRM protected music: http://www.macworld.com/article/138000/2009/01/drm_faq.html So first, you need to convert any DRM protected files you have to MP3s. Then you can use a free media manager such as Media Monkey or Songbird to put the songs on your MP3 player. Here are a couple tutorials you may find helpful. Or follow the steps below http://askbobrankin.com/convert_itunes_to_mp3_format.html http://itunesm4ptomp3.wordpress.com/2008/09/11/remove-itunes-drm-windows-mac/ Here's how I did it: 1) You need to identify which of your iTunes songs are DRM protected, and put them in a separate playlist. To do this, click on the "music" folder (top left) and then click View > View Options. Make sure the box that says "kind" is checked. Now click the "kind" column to sort the songs by kind. Use the shift key to select all the songs that say "Protected AAC file" and drag them into a new playlist (don't bother with the "purchased" AAC files). Now burn this playlist onto CD(s) - and make SURE to check the box that says "Include CD text". Now re-import the songs from the CD(s) as MP3 files - first you'll want to click change the "import settings" to MP3 encoder (it's under Edit > Preferences > "general" tab). Congratulations, your songs are now DRM-free MP3s! 2) Now that all your songs are DRM-free, you can put them on your MP3 player. Unfortunately, iTunes only works with iPods. So you'll need a different media manager such as Media Monkey or Songbird to put your songs on a non-iPod MP3 player. Media Monkey is a free download, and for these purposes there's no need to upgrade to the "gold" version: http://www.mediamonkey.com/ Media Monkey can automatically import all your songs from iTunes. But first, just to make sure all your songs get imported, I recommend going into iTunes and clicking File > Library > Organize Library. Check the box that says "Consolidate files". Now have Media Monkey import your songs from iTunes, or manually add the "iTunes music" folder to your Media Monkey library (it's usually under Documents and Settings > your username > My Documents > My Music > iTunes) 3) Now sync your MP3 player to Media Monkey. You can still use iTunes to purchase music, then add it to the Media Monkey library. Note: although unlikely, if your MP3 player won't play songs that aren't MP3s, you may need to convert ALL your iTunes songs to MP3s. Non DRM-protected songs are easier to convert. Just change your import settings to MP3 encoder (see above), select the songs you want to convert, then right click and select "create MP3 version".
