Question and Answers

Toshiba Qosmio x500 Specs.? - I need a techie expert on these specs. I've been browsing around for gaming laptops and someone recommended the Toshiba Qosmio. I was going to purchase the Alienware M17x until someone jokingly told me that it's an epic failure move to buy an Alienware. I know nothing about computers/laptops except the Qosmio is pretty! Enlighten me! :) Thanks! Best Answer: Alienware Laptops are widely considered the premier machines for gaming. But they're also incredibly expensive. I'm not quite sure how their new model will be as well, since Dell just bought Alienware and Dell's PCs have been falling in quality for quite some time now. To answer your question, The Qosmio is a fantastic gaming laptop for the price. The processor is cutting edge and the memory is plentiful as well as upgradable. The hard drive should also be plenty big and plenty fast for a good amount of time, unless this person is running massive games and several of them. It has a dual layer drive and handles Blu-Ray discs really well. It's battery life is also surprisingly high for a gaming laptop. It's also much thinner than Alienware (1.6 inches versus something like 2.2 for the Alienware) The only problem i have with the Qosmio is that its Graphics card (while a great card) isn't as powerful as the one in the Alienware. The reason that's a problem is because in the Qosmio's case you can't upgrade the video card. On the whole, its a powerful machine for a great price and I highly recommend it. If your pockets are deep enough, you can upgrade to the high end model (I believe it was almost $2,000) Differences are that it has a supplemental solid state drive (smaller, faster and more durable version of regular hard drives) Has 2 GB more memory and is capable of running 1080p content (the lesser models run 720p) Both options are incredibly capable. -
