Show Where can I buy film for my polaroid? - Show I just recently bought a polaroid 1000 from ebay. I know that there a lot of questions about where to buy film for these cameras, but I don't feel like searching anymore. Can someone help me find out where I can get 130 mm f?
Best Answer: THe Polaroid 1000 camera was built for SX-70 film. Here's the one I'm talking about. http://www.camerapedia.org/wiki/Polaroid_Land_Camera_1000 This film has the same cartridge format as Polaroid 600 film but is less sensitive to light. SX-70 and 600 film are not produced anymore and the ones you can still buy are from older productions. Especially with SX-70 film it is most likely that it is outdated and film quality has suffered. Polaroid 600 film is still available and should be still fine or just recently outdated with no performance loss. Polaroid 600 film fits into the Polaroid 1000 camera if you cut off the center two nubs at the back of the cassette or you use a piece of cardboard to load it as shown here: http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-load-600-film-into-a-polaroid-sx-70-camera-160077/ (Camera is different but uses the same film as yours so instructions are basically the same) 600 film will be overexposed by 2 stops (4 times) so to use it with the 1000 you have to set the camera to darker with the right hand (from front) turning knob to reduce overexposure to 1 stop. Or you use a 4x ND filter in front of the lens. 600 film is very difficult to find at stores as it is not produced anymore for the time being. The shops held little stock anyway and when it was sold they could not re-order it. So buying it online (Amazon etc.) is the best (or only) choice. It's getting more and more expensive. have a look here (yes, it's Amazon, I know) that's the film you are looking for: http://www.amazon.com/Polaroid-600-Film-Single-Pack/dp/B00004Z61H/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1257330583&sr=8-1 Useable film for your camera will hopefully be back by beginning of next year if the following project is successful: http://www.the-impossible-project.com/ Their machines are already running as you can see from their video. They will start with B&W film and colour film will follow later in 2010. The rights holder to the Polaroid name will produce a limited edition of Polaroid Instant cameras next year and The Impossible Project will produce a Polaroid branded film for them. So as said above: It's very unlikely to still find the film in a store. You can always try to find a store specialed in cameras (not a supermarket or pharmacy) and ask there. You certainly know the place where you live better than I do - I really can't tell if there is one near you. P.S. You CANNOT use the 664 film some other poster linked to!! The film is made for a different type of camera, you cannot load it. It is not made for the Polaroid 1000 camera but the quantity is 50 twin packs of 10 frames making 1000 pictures (50x2x10! - Martin S
