KC can the JVC GR-DVL718U save video to the SD card, rather than tape? - KC it old, but new looking
Best Answer: I did a search using that model number. The closest I can get are the JVC GR-DVL710 and 720... I went with the 720. Download the manual: http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/00/98/LYT0869-001B.pdf Refer to page 26. Still images only. Video is captured to the miniDV tape. Refer to page 65. USB is for transferring stills only. DV, Firewire, IEEE1394 and i.LINK are all the same thing. To get video from the miniDV tape to the computer, your computer needs a firewire port. USB won't work. If your computer has no firewire port, hopefully it has an available expansion slot so you can add one. USB-to-DV cable/converter/adapter/hub things won't work. No, you cannot copy the video from the tape to the memory card. - Little Dog
