Star icon appearing in the start up menu next to clock which asks to register office? - Is this a virus. All my icons in the start up menu next to the clock disappeared and only an incomplete star appeared there. When you rolled the mouse over it it asked if you wanted to register Office. I tried to open my Trend Micro security panel to run a scan but it wouldnt open and also I was unable to connect to the internet. This Star seemed to be blocking everything. So after trying evrything I could I did a partial system recovery which seemed to get rid of it along with a few other programs on my computer ofcourse, but atleast it seems to be gone. Does anyone know if this was a virus? and is it gone or still lurking somewhere on my computer maybe? Any light on this subject? Thanks.

Best Answer: Do you have ms office on your computer ? have you run free malware check using malwarebytes' antimalware ? ~ - Jasper
