Curious Joe Strange monitor problem. Help, please? - Curious Joe I got a new Asus monitor to replace my old one. (Going from ViewSonic VX922 18" to Asus VW246H 24") My new monitor keeps saying "no DVI signal" when I use the DVI cable it came with. And it's the same deal if I use my old cable. The only way I can get my NEW monitor to work is if I start up my computer using my OLD monitor. (And I must use the same cable) Essentially, I must do this: 1. Start up computer with my OLD monitor. 2. Unplug DVI cable from OLD monitor and plug it into my NEW monitor. *the other end of the DVI cable is attached to my graphics card the entire time. However, I do not need to do this all the time. Once as I can get my new monitor working, it will work fine with subsequent reboots. Once as I try to change the cable, the new monitor stops working. Also, my old DVI cable (the one that came with my old ViewSonic) seems to work better in terms of making the new LCD work. My graphics card is an EVGA 8800GTS 320MB Superclocked Edition, if that makes any difference. I would really love to have this issue resolved. Thanks in advance.
Best Answer: That's is weird behavior for a monitor. If one monitor works, and the other does not, it's the monitor. I would replace it. If you call viewsonic, their RMA process should not require you to pay any shipping. They can also tell you if that is a known compatibility issue or anything. Just go to there site and call their tech support. - Jonny F
