HP Laserjet 3015, faded copies, prints fine? - My HP Laserjet 3015, which has a new toner cartridge, prints fine. However, everytime we try to copy something, it is faded and streaky, to the point of being unreadable, even after setting it all the way dark, on high quality. This piece (http://i532.photobucket.com/albums/ee327/sensei388/Picture007.jpg ) fell off the printer, not sure if that's why or where it goes.
Best Answer: Most likely that part is the cause of your problem. It is part of the scanner guide assembly and is called "Scanner white platen" and the part number is RF5-3235-000CN. I suspect it helps the scanner scan by providing the initial white calibration background before the scan starts. Without that the scanner can't calibrate correctly and the scans will be bad. The ends look like they've been bent out of position. They should be at right angles to the main plate and it should clip up into the guide assembly. Can't help you much more than that really. You may need a tech to look at it or someone who knows what they may be looking for or at when working on it. Best of luck. - Denver Al
