Jesus-On-Your-Face Logitech Z2300 Replacement Satellite Speaker RCA Polarity? - Jesus-On-Your-Face I'm planning to replace my Z2300 satellites with bookshelves that have more mid-range in them, and I will need to solder speaker wire onto the RCA jack. What is the polarity of the RCA? Is the prong in the center of the RCA jack the positive end, with the outer rim being the negative end? Or is it the other way around? Thanks for your answers.
Best Answer: Usually the tip is positive, the ring is negative. But there's no guarantee of that. All that matters is that the two speakers are consistent, AND that the phase is the same as the subwoofer. Instead of soldering wire to the RCA plug, just buy a cable with two female RCA jacks, cut and strip the ends, attach the bare wire to the speakers, and plug the existing speaker wires into the female jacks. http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021803&p_id=663&seq=1&format=2 Test both polarities to ensure the speakers are in phase with the subwoofer, the difference in sound should be obvious. Be careful not to short the wires while the Z-2300 is on--it may not have a circuit protection feature. Also be aware that trying to drive larger speakers too loudly might shorten the life of the Z-2300 amp. - Bytefield
